Baby gift with lots of handmade love!

April 30, 2015

My baby sister is having a baby boy really soon!  We had her shower a few weeks ago, if you missed it, you can see it here!  Of course since my love language is gifts (particularly handmade gifts), I made a whole bunch of things for my new nephew!

sister baby gift basket

This is the basket that I gave her at the shower. It is filled with stuff, that you can’t even see. I found some cute things at the store but made a lot of the gift, using some awesome tutorials and patterns that I had.

baby gift puppy outfit and hat

I recently purchased a few patterns from Peekaboo pattern shops lullaby line – specifically the bodysuit, gown, sleepsack and happy buns britches.  I really want to make him a bunch of clothes with these patterns, but for the shower I was able to get a few bodysuits done.  This one is long sleeve blue with gray trim.  The pants are made from Made by Rae’s Free Basic Newborn pants pattern.  I used leftover fabric from his room projects (pictures coming soon) for the pants.  I love love love newborns in cute handmade hats instead of those ugly ones they put on them at the hospital, so I crocheted him a tiny puppy hat using Repeat Crafter Me’s Free Puppy Dog hat pattern.  I can’t wait to see it on him!

baby gift watermelon outfit

The second outfit I made him has a little special meaning behind it!  My kids actually gave this outfit to their new cousin since they are the ones that have nicknamed him Watermelon!  Cute story – my sister and her husband are still deciding on a name for the little guy, so my son just started calling him Watermelon (since that is his most favorite fruit in the world) whenever we would talk about Auntie’s new baby.  It stuck!  I made the red short sleeve bodysuit with green trim and printed a cute kawaii watermelon onto printable cotton and sewed it the front of the shirt.  I had the awesome chevron green fabric in my stash and it just screamed watermelon to me.  Thus, a watermelon outfit for Watermelon!!

baby gift burp cloths

Who doesn’t like a cute burp cloth!  I know I needed a ton of these with my pukey son – so I went through my stash and picked out some cute boy fabrics and made a bunch!  I had 3 diapers in my stash so I added some cute flannel to pretty them up.  Then I found this pattern/tutorial for a cool burp cloth and made her a bunch of those!  So easy and so cute and useful!!  I have a few more friends having babies this year, so I plan on making a whole bunch more of these!

baby gift hankerchief bibs

I have so many cute prints in my stash I just had to sew up some bibs!  These bandana bibs by See Kate Sew are awesome!  I really wish I has some of these for my drooly babies.  A functional bib that doesn’t clash with their outfit!  And then I found this tutorial…

baby gift bow tie bibs

for bow tie bibs by Make It and Love it!  In the tutorial she uses old men’s shirts but I had just a few months ago donated the shirts I was saving because I didn’t think I was going to use them! Doh!  Oh well, I found some fabric in my stash that looked kinda like men’s shirt patterns and used those.  They turned out just as cute!

baby gift cuddle skull blanket

And it wouldn’t be a jeni ro baby gift if I didn’t make a cozy Cuddle blanket!  My sister actually picked out this blue skull cuddle ages ago.  I backed it with a gray ribbon cuddle and trimmed it with a black rose cuddle.

baby gift puppy lovey

Another staple jeni ro baby gift is of course a critter lovey!!  Since the baby’s room has a puppy theme, I had to design him a puppy lovey!

baby gift all handmade items

Here is all of the stuff I made him all together!  It was a lot of fun to make and I see myself making more baby clothes in the future!  This kid is going to be so spoiled!!  Being an Auntie is the best!!  Can’t wait to meet you baby Watermelon!!
