Fall Kids Clothes Week was last week – and while I didn’t get to all of the projects that I wanted to, I did manage to get a few things done for both kids!
I have been wanting to upcycle a few of my husband’s shirts into shirts for the little man. I used the Classic Ringer Tee pattern from Peekaboo Pattern Shop and made V these team shirts.
Idaho short sleeve shirt – all made from Daddy’s old shirts.
I used the same pattern and added some new red knit to make a long sleeve Niners shirt for V. They look pretty good on him!
I had plans to work on Christmas pjs and a few dresses for O – but she decided to change her mind on what she wanted to be for Halloween. She went from wanting to be Elsa (like most little girls this year) and after playing with her dress up clothes she decided she had changed her mind and wanted to be Tinkerbell.
I felt like she needed a wig and thought I could quickly make one with some super thick yellow yarn that I had in my stash. I used Repeat Crafter Me’s basic helmet pattern as a guide and added a bun in the back and little bang points in the front. Her Tinkerbell costume fit but was way too short – so I knew I had to either find her green leggings or make some. Thankfully I found a great green knit at Joann’s and used the Go To Leggings pattern and whipped up pair of leggings. Such a great pattern! I had some dark purple knit, so I decided to make her a long sleeve shirt to go under the costume (since Halloween is generally chilly and wet around here). A purple body and green arms using the Classic Ringer Tee pattern again.
But the best part of my homemade pieces of this semi-homemade costume are the Tinkerbell shoe covers! OMG these turned out so perfect!
I used THIS tutorial for the basic guidance on the shoe covers, but then adjusted them as I went by trying the covers on the shoes she was going to wear several times. After getting O’s approval on the size of pom pom, I sewed them on the covers and Poof! perfect Tink shoes!!
Excuse the bad phone pics – but I had to get a picture of her before we headed out for her school’s Spooky Spaghetti Night last Friday!
Here are O & V in line for the event. You can see her wings in this picture and she is so excited! V’s costume is from Costco.
Here is a picture from the back that shows off the wig/hat better! I think she is an adorable Tinkerbell!!
So I didn’t get all of my plans done for KCW – but I did manage to get a few pieces sewn up and a lot of things cut out.
That’s 2 Pine Lake Pullovers from Peekaboo, 1 Kitschy Coo Skater dress, 1 Craftiness is not Optional Lulu dress, 2 shirts to applique and 4 Made by Rae Parsley pants all ready to sew up for my kids! Not too bad for Kid’s Clothes Week in a really busy month!
