I know we are living in an uncertain time right now and people are doing their best to keep everyone safe by staying at home and practicing social distancing. Our family cancelled our Spring Break trip to the Grand Canyon and have been trying to stay busy at home!
But what if your child’s birthday is coming up and as the responsible adult that you are – you had to cancel the big friend party you had planned. (Thank you for being responsible). There are so many ways you can make your child feel special on their birthday while celebrating at home with just immediate family! Here is a list of ideas to get you inspired:
A Birthday Banner is always a hit and so easy to make! You can get a printable customized banner from my shop – or just make your own with some paper and pens!! Here is a video tutorial on how to prep your printable banner! Add balloons, streamers, other decor if you like.
We have put up streamers on the door way and filled their room with balloons! So easy and super fun when you do it the night before while they are sleeping – they will be pleasantly surprised in the morning.
Let them choose the TV programs, movie, breakfast, lunch, snacks – everything for the day of their birthday! Anything goes!
My son would probably always choose Mac & Cheese or Pizza, while my daughter might go for Tacos or Burgers!
Try out a fun cake recipe or order the cookie cake he has been eyeing at the store!
Video chat with friends, grandparents, cousins, aunties, etc – so they can wish the birthday kid a Happy Birthday! The pic above is a screen capture from a video chat. Me (in Missouri) watching my nephew (in Washington) open his birthday gift!
Video the unwrapping, ooh and ahh over the gifts. Make it fun!
I hope these ideas can help you make your little ones day extra special! Stay safe out there!
