At the time of my baby sister’s wedding (June 2013), my son was only 1-1/2 years old. My sister had chosen a khaki suit for her groom and the groomsmen/nephews, but the rental suits didn’t go down to my son’s size. I can hardly believe that I actually did it, but I made him a suit! If you missed the flower girl dresses, see them HERE.
My Mom found the perfect color and texture fabric in Portland for the suit. I used the Little Man pants and vest and the Little Man Suit Jacket patterns from Peekaboo Pattern Shop. I was so nervous about making this suit that I waited to start it until my Mom was going to be at my house for the weekend, working on our bridesmaid dresses! I just needed the moral support and wanted here there in case I couldn’t figure something out or royally screwed something up!
It turned out so cute! I made him the 18mo size based on his measurements but there was NO growing room, I was grateful he didn’t have a major growth spurt and it fit for the wedding!
It was a long day for him, the day of the wedding, so the photographer didn’t get as many good shots of him in his suit as I liked but hey he was little and it was HOT!
Here is Daddy putting on his tie! My mom made the ties for the little boys and I got the ivory button up shirt on amazon. Isn’t he gorgeous!
I also made a quick ring pillow while I was making the suit/dresses. It was simple but pretty cute.
Here are the 3 boys walking down the aisle, and probably the best professional picture of the front of V’s suit. I was lucky enough to get the binky out of V’s mouth before he walked down the aisle, I wasn’t about to fight him for the dump truck. It got some good laughs from the guests. And hey at least he is smiling!
