This might be my favorite party I have designed to date. One because it was for my adorable nephew’s 1st birthday and two because the theme was so much fun to work with! We did a fun fishing theme and everyone had a blast!
My nephew is a Christmas eve baby so we had his party the weekend after Christmas, my sister’s downstairs had to be de-Christmased before I could start decorating for the party!
The space turned out amazing! I was super proud of the cool back drop with the fishing net. My sister found some cute fishing décor at Hobby Lobby and I found the fishing fabric at Joanns.
I cut a ton of fish out with my Silhouette in the main colors of orange, red, green and blue. I also created a few fabric banners with leftover fabric. The fishing nets were simple but impactful and my sister for that huge stuffed fish on Amazon.
I made 2 different high chair banners and decided to use this one as décor along with another fabric pennant banner. Fabric pennant banners are so easy to make and really add to a party – and are a lasting keepsake. I have a tutorial on how to fabric party banners HERE!
The kids table was dressed with a blue plastic table cloth and cut out fish. I found the coloring sheets online and we put crayons into these cute fishing buckets from Hobby Lobby.
Above the kids table I hung these 3 giant bobbers, I made from white Chinese lanterns – painted the bottoms red and glued a cardboard strip painted red on the top. They were pretty easy (other than a nasty hot glue gun burn) and made a huge impact!
My sister’s downstairs space worked really well for the party, since in December in the Northwest – you really can’t count on it being good weather for an outside party!
The printable banner I made worked amazing over the fishing net and the fun bobber lights made it that much cuter! The white sparkle lights up high were leftover from the Christmas party – but we left them up because you can never have too many sparkle lights!
The water bottles and juice boxes were dressed up with printable wraps of course.
We had a fun food spread including peanut butter fish sammies for the kiddos, and smoked salmon for the adults! The cute food tents made sure everyone knew what they were enjoying.
Can’t forget the party circles, they always make things more festive!
The smash cake and cupcakes were made by my sister’s friend – so adorable. I made the giant bobber and fishing pole for the smash cake topper.
Finished off with sub sandwiches, veggies and sushi – the food spread was fabulous!
For games we played a fishing game – I created fishing poles with twine, clothes pins and bamboo sticks. The kids got to “go fish” for candy and prizes!
I had to design my favorite party game – Pin the fish on the hook!!
The littles had fun with it!
And for the littlest ones – a ball pit of course! Here is the birthday boy in his fish hat!
The kiddos all went home with a tackle box full of goodies!! These were fun to make, plastic tackle boxes from amazon dressed up with twine and favor tags!
So much fun with family and friends and the birthday boy thoroughly enjoyed his birthday cake! What a Cutie! Happy 1st Birthday Casen!! All printables are in my shop!!
