OMGeeee! Olive turned 14 this month and started her first year in High School! No way! Feel free to check out the Party Portfolio and see all of her birthday celebrations up until now – some pretty awesome parties if I do say so myself!
We did a teen birthday celebration, meaning something a little more low-key with a non-theme, theme – more playing on her favorite things. The color green, music, and plants!
We texted this pretty invite to her friends to come over and hang out.
I did light decorating with a printable banner and a balloon banner kit I found in the Target dollar spot – perfect colors and came with leaves to give it the botanical feel.
We set up the fire pit in the driveway and a table with snacks and smores supplies.
It was hot so the chocolate goodies had to stay in a cooler under the table.
The kids seemed to enjoy the smores of course each other’s company. They ended the night in a circle chatting on the driveway – funny kids!
When the party was over, I moved the printable banner and balloon banner into the house – to our regular birthday party room – the sunroom.
I made her a cake, per her request, a yummy salted caramel dark chocolate cake from my favorite cake recipe book Cake Confidence by Mandy Merriman. When I went to get the caramel extract at Michael’s, I found a mold for the music notes and made them with dark chocolate melts. It was the perfect final touch.
I think she had a pretty good 14th birthday!
We love celebrating you, Olive! Happy Birthday! Hope this gives you some ideas on how to create a teen birthday celebration yourself. Keep it simple and have fun!
