Rediscovering my Craftiness during Quarantine!

June 5, 2020

One good thing about this quarantine is all the time at home to finish projects!

While I didn’t dive in and start making masks to sell (like the rest of the world) I did make them for family and friends. Here is my crew in their cute masks!

I was also able to get some projects done that I have either wanted to do for a long time – or started a long time ago and just never finished!

First – This gorgeous crocheted daisy granny square blanket that I started for O when she was 5! She is going to be 11 this summer!! It turned out so great and even matches her room in our house in Missouri – when I started this we lived in Washington State!

I just love the daisy centers of the traditional granny square! I used THIS tutorial from Tillie Tulip.

I finally used the cool Hot Wheels fabric I had originally planned for my son, he is almost 9 now and not into cars anymore – so I made a quilt for my soon to be 5 year old nephew!

I used the Easy Bake pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew since I had a layer cake that I got from Quilt Market so long ago. It’s a great pattern and pretty easy for a newbie quilter like me! The backing is a fun hot wheels fabric and I quilted it myself on my little machine.

The last big project I did over the last few months was this picnic blanket for my sister’s birthday!

I have made quite a few of these in the past – you can see my old blog post about them HERE. The backing is a plastic covered cotton so it can be used on the ground and not get wet. I had a few yards of a navy and white chevron – so I searched my stash for matching fabric to make the top. Thankfully she loves Star Wars so the blue/Star Wars/porg fabric worked great!

I used the porg fabric to make a little bag to hold the folded up picnic blanket in.

She loved it and used it on her table to display it!

This quarantine crafting has re-energized my craftiness and reminded me that I really do love to make gifts for my family and friends! I have been brainstorming (and searching my fabric/craft stash) gifts I could offer for sale in my shop! So stay tuned for some new stuff in the future!
