Miss O’s preschool bestie turned 5 back in February. She adores Strawberry Shortcake and I had found a cute Strawberry Shortcake panel at the fabric store that I wanted to make into a quilt for her birthday. Well I ran into a few snags since I was trying my hand at free motion quilting and the quilt got put on the back burner. We went with another gift of course!
After asking some questions at the Sew Expo this year, I finally picked it up again and finished the quilt. Free motion quilting and all! I added a cuddle dot fabric to the Strawberry Shortcake panel and then backed it with a strawberry print flannel.
To personalize it, I added her name in the cuddle dot on the back as well!
My quilting is definitely in need of improvements but this quilt was good practice and after a wash and dry it’s still cute! I used the drawing in white behind Strawberry to practice the free motion quilting.
I bought a couple of packages of pre-made quilt binding and machine bound the quilt. I had to add my logo too of course! It may not be perfect but I think it turned out cute and really cozy. We are finally going to give it to her and I think she will appreciate the coziness this week! Love you L!
