I think most Easter baskets have the traditional chocolate bunny and some kind of stuffed bunny among the candy and toys, right? Well normally my kids’ baskets do. This year with traveling, projects and just everyday life, I was running out of time to make my kids something stuffed for their baskets.
I was planning on making them each one of this cute chick in a zippered egg from Sweetbriar Sisters (next year I promise!), but when I got back from Craftcation (recap here) I decided that I really didn’t need to make them another stuffed animal. Because, come on, they really don’t need another stuffed animal!
Then the mommy guilt set in… and I found some free time on Friday to sew something up. I went on the hunt for an quick and easy project, Abby to the rescue, I found her cute (and free) pattern and tutorial for the Sophia bunny – Perfect! I dug through my stash of Shannon Cuddle and dove in!
So they may not be perfect (I NEED practice on my embroidery) but they turned out pretty darn cute!!
I had larger cuts of the pink dots and blue stripes Cuddle but decided to use a small scrap of purple paisley embossed Cuddle for the inner ears. Matching the noses and cute pom pom tails in purple as well. Purple is currently a favorite color of both of my kiddos!
They are a simple shape and quick to sew up. They have a little bag of poly beads in them to help them stand up. Abby’s tutorial is clear and easy to follow like all of her patterns.
I had to pop them into O & V’s Easter baskets and take some pictures!
They are so stinkin’ cute popping out! The fabric baskets I made a few years ago – they are huge but not very sturdy – thus not ideal for collecting eggs. I am going to have to remedy that one of these years!
HI pink polka dot bunny! So cute!
I think this guy is my favorite of the two! But they are both adorable and will be loved by my kids! Ahhh mommy guilt relieved and we will have thrilled kids on Easter morning!
Happy Easter!
