My sweet and adorable nephew turned 1 this month and I planned a fun aviator themed birthday party for him!
This adorable picture was taken by my sister’s friend – Jaime Bugbee Photography. They had a little 1st birthday photo shoot in the grass while I was setting up the party.
As for the party, you know I take a lot of pictures and want to show every awesome detail, so I will be sharing his party in 2 parts. First up the decor and food!
The 7″ x 5″ printable invite turned out great! I had them printed at Costco using the Designs your own party invitations and they turned out amazing! My design on front and back of a paper invite – so professional! This invite and all of the other printables in the post are available in my etsy shop!
For an early May afternoon in Washington state it was amazing weather – actually really hot weather – so we had the party outside in the backyard of my little sister’s house out in the country. This cute sign welcomed the guests to the party.
The favor and gift table was dressed up with a fabric pennant banner and a sweet display of T throughout his first year of life. Time really does fly!
For the party favors aka “Baggage Claim”, I wrapped up 24ct Crayons into mini suitcases with little favor tags and made a mini coloring book for the kiddos. We found cute aviator rubber duckies on amazon for the smallest of the kiddos.
The kids table was simple with a small balloon bouquet and mini gliders that the kids could put together.
To keep the sun off and it a little cooler we put a tent over the kids table and I dressed it up with a paper airplane and cloud banner. I cut the shapes with my Silhouette Cameo and then sewed them together. It was adorable – the picture really doesn’t do it justice!
Here is a shot of the party space. It is hard to see but I also hung 3d clouds and airplanes under the deck – it was a fun addition.
For the in flight meal, there was a choice of a turkey or ham sandwich in fun to go boxes with labels showing the type of sandwich. There were plane shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the kiddos too.
Guests could add their own condiments to the sandwiches and choose a bag of chips.
Then they could choose from a variety of in flight snacks.
The flotation devices were a hit (ok yeah I know I spelled it wrong)! The food tents were pretty cute too.
Beverages served were dressed up water bottles of course…
and soda and berry lemonade.
The snacks and cake table had another fabric banner and a fun vintage looking plane that I found at a consignment sale.
Cake for the guests was a cute blue airplane cake flying among the cupcake clouds. A few of the cupcakes were dressed up with personalized party circles.
The airplane cake was made with 2 round cakes – I followed this post I found on Pinterest.
The smash cake for T was just a simple small round cake with whipped cream as the frosting and a few chocolate airplanes on top. His high chair was decorated with a printable ONE banner and a fabric pennant banner. He started slowly with the whipped cream but eventually…
He was devoring it! Yum!!!
This party was so fun to create! The party printables as a complete set and individually are available in my shop.
Next up, the games and fun! Don’t miss it!
